This September we’re getting back to busy the simplest way possible, with world-renowned cookbook author and home cook Julia Turshen.
Named one of “The 100 Greatest Home Cooks of All Time” by Epicurious, Julia Turshen is known for her classic and delicious recipes that focus on humble ingredients and no-fuss cooking. Now the classic and comforting recipes from her latest best-selling cookbook, Simply Julia, are getting the Dinnerly treatment.
For the month of September, we’re adapting eight Simply Julia recipes so you can cook them at home in five steps, with six ingredients, under 30 minutes. All of Julia’s recipes are inspired by family tradition and designed with maximum comfort and minimal cleanup in mind. Our partnership is a natural fit and we couldn’t be happier to help make Simply Julia’s recipes even more comforting by delivering them to your door. In Julia’s own words, “I want to be comfortable at home,” and we fully agree with that.
When it comes to comfort, it’s front and center in all of Julia’s recipes. “The idea that being comfortable, and comforted, can only be in response to feeling down is so limiting,” said Turshen. “We all deserve to feel as comfortable as possible in our kitchens and bodies at all times.”
Julia fully embodies that ethos when putting recipes together, flipping the culinary status quo on its head and reminding us through her recipes that two things can be true at the same time, even if society labels those two things opposites, like healthy food and comfort food. She has masterfully recreated healthy spins on comfort foods the entire family loves, with familiar and approachable recipes anybody can cook.
She never went to culinary school, learning how to cook from public TV, and doesn’t consider herself a chef, so she always creates recipes from one home cook to another, meaning wholesome ingredients, familiar flavors, simple techniques, and minimal cleanup.
Her latest cookbook, Simply Julia, is filled with nostalgic recipes that are equally comforting to home cooks and home eaters alike, and you’ll be pleased to both cook and eat her family classics.
This September Dinnerly is offering Simply Julia recipes like:
