Earth-friendly choices

We work closely with suppliers to find new ways to reduce packaging while ensuring your food stays fresh during transit.

The Box

Our boxes can be recycled in any curbside paper recycling bin. They are SFI and FSC certified, which means they are made out of paper sourced from sustainably managed forests. For more details visit www.internationalpaper.com/policies-certificates.

Ice Packs

To recycle, cut the bag open and discard the non-toxic, non-hazardous material in your garbage bin. Recycle the outside plastic where flexible films are collected for recycling, such as a local supermarket or recycling center, found here: www.search.earth911.com. Our ice packs are made up of 98% water and 2% super absorbent polymer (SAP), a non-toxic, non-hazardous, oil-based absorbent.

Liners

Depending on your location and the current temperature, you may receive a liner made of layers of paper, or paper and a plant-based rapidly renewable foam. You could also receive a foil pouch liner made of metalized films and bubbles. Any liners wrapped in brown paper, whether all-paper or paper and foam, can be discarded in the curbside paper recycling bin. The foil pouch liners can be recycled at centers that accept #4 plastics. You can use https://nextrex.com/view/findadropoff to find a drop-off location near you.

Produce & Pantry Trays

Our trays better organize the ingredients within your box for a simple, seamless unpacking experience. They’re made from sustainably sourced paper fiber, similar to our boxes. You can discard the tray in your curbside recycling bin, or better yet – reuse it for organizing your fridge and pantry!

Ingredient Packaging

Jars, bottles, and clamshells are made of #1 plastic (PET) and can be disposed of in your plastics recycling bin. Films and bags are made of thin layers of #1 (PET) and #4 (LDPE) plastic and are usually collected at your local supermarket or recycling center found here: www.search.earth911.com.
